Healthy Sandwich Recipe
A simple and healthy sandwich recipe:
Avocado and Brown Bread Sandwich Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 slices of whole-grain bread
- 1 ripe avocado
- 3-4 slices of turkey breast (preferably low-sodium)
- 1 small tomato, sliced
- 1 handful of fresh spinach leaves
- 1 tablespoon of hummus
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: a squeeze of lemon juice
Instructions:
1. Prepare the avocado: Slice the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Mash it with a fork until smooth. Add salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon juice if desired.
2. Toast the bread: Lightly toast the whole-grain bread slices until they are golden brown.
3. Assemble the sandwich:
- Spread the mashed avocado on one slice of the toasted bread.
- Add a layer of turkey breast slices on top of the avocado.
- Place the tomato slices over the turkey.
- Add a handful of fresh spinach leaves on top of the tomatoes.
- Spread the hummus on the other slice of bread and place it on top of the sandwich.
4. Serve and enjoy: Cut the sandwich in half if desired and enjoy your healthy meal!
This sandwich is packed with healthy fats from the avocado, lean protein from the turkey, and plenty of vitamins and fiber from the vegetables and whole-grain bread.
